Many people have an irrational fear - spiders and flying are common ones - but often these fears are minor. Sometimes though, fear can intensify making you feel extremely anxious and stopping you from doing the things you want to do. A phobia is a specific fear such as the fear of flying. You may know that the fear is irrational but the terror is automatic and overwhelming. Hypnotherapy can help you take control of your phobia and stop it limiting what you can do. It can be very helpful and if your general stress levels are low then phobias can be dealt with very quickly. A special technique is used which aims to remove your phobia so that you will no longer be affected by it.

There are also techniques for dealing with more general fears. Sometimes a general fear – such as the fear of open spaces or crowds (Agoraphobia), or a fear of being judged by others (Social Phobia) - is given a phobia name and we can mix up fears and phobias. General fears are more complex than phobias but can still be helped with hypnotherapy. Hypnotherapy can help you to feel calmer and more in control so that you can deal more easily with those situations that you previously found difficult.
